Disclaimer

This page is not a legal document. It is intended as a guide for the prospective buyer. This is not the license agreement and should not be construed as such. Alphatronics can not be held responsible for errors or omissions contained on this page.

For accurate licensing information, please refer to the END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT supplied with the software.

Single user license

The Single User license is for one computer only. This can be a server, but not a cluster of servers.

Site license

The Site license enables the purchaser to use the software on any number of computers at a single company or entity location. If more than one company or entity exists at a single location, additional licenses would be required to conform with the license agreement to use the software at any additional companies or entities.

Likewise, if the company or entity exists at more than one location, additional licenses would be required to conform with the license agreement to use the software at any additional locations.

Enterprise license

The Enterprise license enables the purchaser to use the software on any number of computers of a single company or entity at any number of locations that the single company or entity exists.

Promotional bundles

Occasionally, our software is packaged together with our other software products as a sales promotion to add value to the end users purchase. The license type purchased for the primary product also applies to the bundled product. The term "Free" may used to promote the bundling, but the software is not free to distribute or use. It still must be licensed properly.

Laptops / Notebooks / Mobile Computers

Although not specifically addressed in the license agreement, a computers mobility constitutes a separate location in which the computer can be located, thus a separate license would be required for each mobile computer if it is to leave the site. The site license does not cover the mobile computers licensing needs, but the Enterprise license does. Also, a Single user license dedicated to the Mobile computer would suffice.

Activation and Registration

Activation of the software requires an internet connection to verify the installation is in compliance with the license type, including evaluation mode.

If the computer is not connected to the internet, an offline registration process is available through the Dashboard application. Please refer to the documentation as to how to perform offline activation.

Once the software has been activated, an internet connection is no longer required for the software to work indefinitely.

An Evaluation License is automatically activated shortly after software installation. In addition, the evaluation version uses the same activation scheme to register the system signature, so that an attempt to re-install the software can not be used to provide additional "evaluation" time.

The following information is sent encrypted and stored on the server:

License control

In an effort to assist our customers in avoiding unauthorized distribution of product enabling codes, we have chosen to encrypt the code stored on disk or in the registry with machine specific information, so that an attempt to copy this data to another computer to enable the software will fail.

It is not intended to hamper the ability to change the hardware of the machine, or to track users of the software. In the event of certain hardware changes to the machine, the software should be re-installed using the original registration code supplied at the time of purchase.

For this reason, your purchase documentation should be kept in a secure, but easy-to-find place.

Virtual Port Monitor 6.0: A hardware signature is no longer used. A software signature based on the Windows installation is used instead.
Activation and validation schemes are subject to change at any time without notice.
