Getting print streams to the printer
Once a document has been printed to a file, there are a number of ways to get
the printed file to a printer, depending on how the printer is attached to the
computer:
- When a printer is connected to the parallel port of the local computer, the following command line will copy the stream to the printer:
copy /b c:\printfile.prn LPT1:
- When a printer is shared on another computer on the network, the following command line will copy the stream to the printer:
copy /b c:\printfile.prn \\computer\share
- When a printer is attached to the network, and uses LPR/LPD protocol, the following command will copy the stream to the printer:
lpr -S 192.168.1.100 -P queuename -o l c:\printfile.prn
- Use a third party software product, such as PrintFiler.
